Miles Blows Me Away

January 30th, 2009 · No Comments

Open thread for Miles Davis. Miles has always been an inspiration to me. When I’m asked what I would really like to listen to, Miles Davis is the short answer. Miles always wanted to be hip and relevant… he always was. He was not afraid to cross the musical spectrum or venture into the unknow. And, [...]

Churn To Burn

CAC-War Kitty – Churn To Burn
I saw this bike over at Hacked Gadgets and it gave me the push to create this beat/loop.
Here’s the info on the motorcycle:
This Kawasaki ZX10R is not your standard motorcycle. It has 12 loudspeakers with 1,500 watts of output, two iPod’s (one is never enough), a Sony PSP, a flat [...]

Frogs On The Reeds

CAC-War Kitty – Frog Thumper 1
I was experimenting with a few things (gates and transposition) in the studio the other day, and it struck me: I’m making a frog sound. I laughed a bit and then giddiness swept me away.  I created this fun little beat/loop.
I’m still looking for my lily pad.

Ask Yourself: WWWKD?

January 27th, 2009 · No Comments

The ‘Social Media’ thing has really gotten out of hand.  I’m often told that if I’m not on this or that site, not micro-blogging, or exposing myself on some video, that I will not connect with the ‘right’ people and therefore get nowhere.  I’m fine with that.
I just ask myself, “WWWKD?” (What Would War Kitty [...]

Addie’s Railroad

CAC-War Kitty – Addie’s Railroad
Went and did some field-recording with a 4 year old.  It was cool because he wanted to record everything.  We did end up with some pretty cool stuff… lots of banging and bashing and nondescript noises… just the sort of thing I like.  Get it back to the studio and sort [...]

The Grand Canyon

January 23rd, 2009 · No Comments

The Grand Canyon
Commercials never clicked in
And I almost lost my mind
Checking the resistance
Cutting in from behind
You talk about crazy
Well I nearly went blind
Fighting my love for you
And paying in time
Oh the Grand Canyon
No bridge to span this gulf
Oh the saddest moment
When you deny me to yourself
Now shadows never fallow me
There is no light within
My life [...]

I love Japanese food. I love sushi. So, I need this: a video on the proper ediquette for all things sushi. I need some Sapporo and a good chuckle.
And, now I know the samurai way… oishii ::

According To Thelonious

January 19th, 2009 · No Comments

This is the ‘world according to Thelonious Monk‘, the great jazz pianist and musical innovator.  It turns out, it was jotted down by Steve Lacy who play with the Monk group for a while (in the 60’s I think) but is none the less referred to as “Monk’s Advice”.
Musician or not, I’m sure you can [...]
